Managing Alarm Contacts

Creating or editing contacts is an administrator task. If the group, the user belongs has been granted permissions to manage contacts the link to this area can be found on the Administration menu “Manage Alarm Contacts”.

The screen will open as the screen shot below

Any existing contacts will be shown on the contacts list on the left.

To create a contact, click on the “New” button above the contact list. This opens a dialog where the user must supply a contact name.

This name does not have to be unique (cannot be blank) and is just something that is memorable and descriptive for the contact.

When the user enters a valid (non-blank) contact name and clicks save a contact is created in the system and the name added to the contacts list of the left of the screen. Additionally, the newly created contact is selected and opened immediately for editing.

The screen shows the newly created contact “Monitoring Group” a description field to type free text to further describe this group, a place to enter the emails, SMS details and external alarm list (covered later) for this group, and the contacts hours of operation in which they will receive alerts.

The default hours of operation for alerts is initially set to 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 00:00 to 00:00 means midnight today to midnight tomorrow.
